D'Addario promotes green guitar strings

Jim D'Addario, CEO D'Addario Strings

Way back in 1987, D'Addario strings boss Jim was challenged by his 13-year-old daughter about the amount of waste packaging thown away every time he changed his guitar strings. This was the starting point of D'Addario's on-going green guitar strings campaign that is resulted in their latest initiative - "clean wire" in all wound strings, eliminating tin-plating from the string-making process.

D'Addario are the only guitar string company that actually makes their own wire for manufacturing strings. By changing the way they process the raw steel into the final string, they have managed to remove the need for the use of harmful tin - another ground-breaking first.

D'Addarios green website at http://www.daddario.com/saves/ charts the progress of their green credentials and gives news of their latest initiatives - including an eco-friends forum, eco-tips and even a featured eco-artist!

With the tagline Play responsibly.. Play D'Addario, their claim of environmentally friendly since 1991 continues to differentiate them from other manufacturers in the competetive guitar string world.
